Pordru - Druid Tank

Postby p0rgy » Tue Apr 24, 2018 2:31 pm

1. Character name, Server:
Pordru - Stormreaver

2. Class, Race, and Spec (and Artifact Level):
Druid, HMTauren - Guardian.

3. Link to an Armory profile, and an explanation of anything that may not be readily apparent from your Armory profile (alternate sets of gear, currently PvP-specced, etc.)
https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/chara ... ver/pordru

4. What are your usual playing hours? Are there days/times when you are consistently unavailable? Inform us of your daily work/school schedule, what time do you get home from work/school, and what time must you be in bed for the next day. Are you able to make our raid times in general? Is this availability going to change within the next few months, or with a change in Semester (if applicable)?
I am 34 years old, married with 3 children. I am an IT Manager for a multi-billion dollar company and have a lot of flexibility in my schedule. I typically play between 6-7pm thru 11:30pm most nights unless nothing is going on then i hang out with the kiddos and wife. I go out of town at times for work but it never affects my ability to play as I always have extremely high end machines even my laptop able to play WOW anywhere.

5. Discuss your prior endgame raiding experience. Specify your experience with Heroic/Mythic in previous content as well as your experience in the current tier.
I've raided at a top US 30-150 level my entire wow carrier. My achievements can show the amount of time i've put into this game but current tier i am 10/11 on my Druid tank, 7/11 on my Warrior tank and 6/11 on my Mage (I do weekend stuff with friends guild)

6. Why do you want to leave your current guild? Why do you want to join us? Specifically, what interests you in our band of merry idiots?
My guild is falling apart, they have gone back to working on farmed mythic content with the exception of Aggramar since they feel its to difficult to relearn. Also have had several 2% wipes on Argus but now with roster changes they have gone back to farm to gearing? So im looking for a place that stays progression oriented even when things get hard.

7. Give us some info on your class knowledge and self performance analysis in this section:
I've always defined myself as a TANK, which means i specialize in playing tanks for the best fit and needs of the raid and progression of the guild. I am not a master of anything but a utility of alot of things. I've played warrior as my main for over 14 years until KJ where i switched to druid and stuck with it through this Teir. I've learned to like it alot.

7a. What resources and practices do you use to keep up with your class and maximizing your DPS/HPS/Survivability? I'm constantly finding way to maximize my production as a player as well as my DPS output as a tank without suffering survivability. I haven't had much chance this teir to do so with my current guild where i get to play with my orange parses as a tank but I also make sure I am not a reason for a while at any means.

7b. What fights in the current tier do you swap Talents and Legendaries to something different than the norm (if at all)? What do you swap and why? Feel free to list on a boss per boss basis.
Good example would be Argus, I would swap to more survivability talents vs dps talents for this fight as he likes to hit hard as fuck, otherwise with everything on farm, i usually stick to my current tallents.

7c. How do you analyze your performance on a new fight and figure out how/what you can improve on next week? Don't just say you use logs and compare to others of your class - what specifically are you looking for when you have a good/bad parse?
I look at logs, i have a big community of tank friends i've worked with over years of playing where we love to sit in discord and go over logs and finding ways to maximize performance.

8. Please include your character log report showcasing your performance on the relevant bosses of the tier. If your logs are private, please change your Warcraftlogs login and list the username/password here so we can access your logs. If you aren't comfortable listing it publicly, please PM it to Palin privately on these forums. Please remember to change your WCL login again a few days later after we've reviewed your application.

Only recently got the druid boomy shoulders for DPS Increased damage, otherwise logs are as you can see posted.

9. Of the above logs, please do a quick analysis of what fights you did well on, what went wrong on certain fights, etc. Use this chance to explain any context behind good/bad logs.
I do well on single target fights because i don't care to cheese my damage to the point of creating problems killing the boss, so i usually do better on single target fights.

10. Can your PC handle WoW at high effects (Lust, Scorp Room, etc.)?
I9-7980xe, 32gb ram, 2 1080ti's, 2 raid0 500gb m.2 samsung pro's no issues with rig.

11. Please include a SS of your raiding UI. IF A KEYBINDING IS NOT SHOWN NO YOUR FRAME, PLEASE EXPLAIN AND list any relevant keybinds not shown in the screenshot. Make sure we can see everything that pops up in a raid, meaning take the SS in combat in LFR or something of the like so we can see your boss mods, timer positioning, WeakAuras, raid frames, etc.
Not Super recent, but best I could find while at work:

12. Tell us a bit about yourself. Age, gender, work/school, hobbies, etc. Add anything else you feel is pertinent.
34 years old, Male, IT Manager also a big hobbie of mine, i host servers for friends and it's something i really enjoy. Pretty outgoing personality, but I also know when to shut up and just do my job.

13. Out-of-game contact information - Discord tag, Battle.net ID, etc. Some way we can contact you besides these forums.

Hi Porgy, thanks for your interest with us and taking the time to apply.

Can you go into more detail about your history? It doesn't look like your Warrior was with Death Penalty when he got his Guldan kills etc.. Was that with Promethean? Why did you chose to leave them if you don't mind us asking?

Can you link your logs from your Warrior's tier progression through this expansion? Porgy on Stormreaver only shows Normal/Heroic kills of Guldan/Helya etc.

I do well on single target fights because i don't care to cheese my damage to the point of creating problems killing the boss, so i usually do better on single target fights.

No offense but this is a lazy answer and not what we're looking for. I'll give you a chance to rephrase - I'm sure there's plenty you can break down even from Argus progression to show what you look for in Logs and how you identify mistakes, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Mid WoD, A Friend and I Created a guild called Insouciant. We ran this guild from the end of WoD Clearing Archimonde:Mythic upto 3/10 NH. Our guild died to a hard split in where some of our guildies wanted to take the guild into what direction. 10 of us really wanted to start pushing top US 100 again where the other were more interested in the casual atmosphere. At this time is where I and a few others ended up with Promethean.

I joined Promeathean at 5/10NH tanking with Amy until 10/10NH, 9/9 M:ToS, 6/11 M:Antorus, where Amy the GM decided to stop running Promethean and ended up leaving to join some friends on another server which ended the guild abruptly. I saw an opportunity with Death Penalty as they were on same server and looking for an immediate tank as one of their main tanks has terminal cancer, and they had spots that next week for available progression. I have only been with them for Aggramar Progression and Agrus (500+ Wipes). They have gone from working on Argus 3 nights a week to barely One night when we try to lock out.

9. Of the above logs, please do a quick analysis of what fights you did well on, what went wrong on certain fights, etc. Use this chance to explain any context behind good/bad logs.
M: Garothi: This is a pretty easy fight for tanks, I like to exercise my movement speeds to get back to the boss efficiently without clipping anyone with fel bombardment. I got to test this boss finally with the boomkin moonfire shoulders and cloak for the first time on the 10th. Noticed a large change from prior kills.
M: Felhounds: Havent had a chance to do this fight since i got many upgrades, this has been a fight I've always allowed to sit for as other people needed the gear off the boss and i didn't. Although my couple of parses weren't horrible for not having ideal gear. This was was challenging for me at first with the amount of damage output on earlier ilvls and our healers we had at the time, I found I had to be cleaver in using my Frenzy Regen on this fight where we would constantly have healers die.
M: High Command: Another fight I've sat for others but this is one of those fights id love to see what i could do with my current setup. because of the amount of AOE we had, adds didn't stay up long enough to pull good numbers.
M:Eonar: I actually enjoy this fight unlike others, it doesn't really have a challenge to it but its one of those mindless fights for tanks for the most part. This is a fight where i probably could improve on with my ability for more output.
M:Portal Keeper: Probably one of the fights I've found a bit of struggle on because of the boss and shit on the ground where we are trying to position the boss just right for adds. I could do better in my placement on this boss so that we maximize use of our players killing adds.
M:Imonar: This is a fight i build more around Survivibility because of 2nd platform the boss hits hard as heck, i utilize Bristling Fur for this fight to stack ironfur stacks to mitigate the massive damage from boss on 2nd platform.
M:Kin'Garoth: I haven't really had enough practice on this fight to really give myself an atiquit assessment but I've found it for tanking a relatively easy fight.
M:Aggramar: Looking forward to doing this fight with the right gear, but only killed it once on Mythic. I have no comment for this fight.
M:Argus: Id say the biggest flaw in how i've done this fight is how we handle the fight, as a druid tank i am the one soaking orbs and playing tank 3, where i could be better used to tank boss and take overall less damage than the DK tank or Warrior tank to Soak Orbs. But none the less this fight I've excelled and when I had done the different jobs it was noticeable to the point where they just kept me on soaking orbs instead of the other tanks to do it. I also at times found myself soaking to many orbs at once ultimately dying and at times zoning out because of everyone elses lack of focus and drops orbs slightly off at times.

HI Porgy, thanks for taking the time to write out a detailed reply about each boss. At this point we're going to unfortunately pass on your application. Thanks for your consideration and best of luck in your search for a new home for Argus and BFA!
