Pessa - Shaman

Postby nodiea » Sat Apr 14, 2018 11:05 pm

1. Character name, Server

Pessa, Tichondrius

2. Class, Race, and Spec (and Artifact Level)

Shaman, Highmountain Tauren, Ele/Resto. Both specs are at 80 points.

3. Link to an Armory profile, and an explanation of anything that may not be readily apparent from your Armory profile (alternate sets of gear, currently PvP-specced, etc.)

https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/chara ... rius/pessa

I have many gear sets for both specs. If it happens to show me equipping gear that I should not be using for raid, it's probably a Mythic+ or memeing gear set. Although I've clearly been a Resto Shaman main for raid, I'm applying as Ele main, so I will focus on Ele stuff in this application.

4. What are your usual playing hours? Are there days/times when you are consistently unavailable? Inform us of your daily work/school schedule, what time do you get home from work/school, and what time must you be in bed for the next day. Are you able to make our raid times in general? Is this availability going to change within the next few months, or with a change in Semester (if applicable)?

I should be able to make Spike Flail's raid times in general. I'm currently in university and all my classes are always in the morning or early afternoon during the weekdays. This will certainly not be changing within the next few months, unless I decide to move to the mountains and get eaten by mountain lions.

5. Discuss your prior endgame raiding experience. Specify your experience with Heroic/Mythic in previous content as well as your experience in the current tier.

This is my first expansion raiding Heroic/Mythic. I started raiding as a Resto Shaman and achieved Cutting Edge in all of the tiers so far this expansion. I don't have much experience raiding as a DPS, but I have plenty of experience DPSing in Mythic+, so I do know how to play Ele.

6. Why do you want to leave your current guild? Why do you want to join us? Specifically, what interests you in our band of merry idiots?

I failed my trial with my current guild, but I'd like to keep raiding mythic and Feral happens to be in your band of merry idiots. I failed because double Resto Shaman isn't ideal for a healing roster.

7. Give us some info on your class knowledge and self performance analysis in this section:

7a. What resources and practices do you use to keep up with your class and maximizing your DPS/HPS/Survivability?

I mainly use WCL, WoWanalyzer, and Raidbots to keep up with my class and maximize my performance in general.

7b. What fights in the current tier do you swap Talents and Legendaries to something different than the norm (if at all)? What do you swap and why? Feel free to list on a boss per boss basis.

Ele:
I'd swap for High Command, Portal Keeper, Eonar, Kin'garoth, Coven, and Aggramar.
-For High Command, Portal Keeper, and Eonar, I would swap to my AoE legendaries. Generally, my AoE legendary setup is either bracers/Sephuz (5+ targets) or EotTN/Sephuz (3-4 targets, slightly more ST). If I feel that adds or the like won't last very long on a fight and I can still make use out of Sephuz and do some AoE, I would use the EotTN/Sephuz AoE set since I wouldn't get much out of the bracers and EotTN would benefit both my AoE and ST DPS. If adds die way way too quickly, then I would simply use a more ST focused set (would use EotTN/boots or Sephuz/boots and spec Icefury, or the standard gloves/boots running either Ascendance or Icefury).
-For Kin'garoth and Aggramar, I would use EotTN/boots and go Icefury since there's more movement involved and this setup is just more consistent in DPS in general than gloves/boots and Ascendance. It's less reliant on procs and I can more easily line up my burst for the add phase on Kin'garoth (also wouldn't want to proc Ascendance then waste it because I have to move which potentially can happen in both of these fights). I can also run the usual gloves/boots here, but I would still use Icefury and pray that my Ascendance procs don't occur at the worst times.
-For Coven, I would swap to shoulders/boots. With the fight being a council fight, and assuming that the bosses aren't spread ridiculously far apart throughout the fight, I can effectively make use out of the shoulders' earthquake procs outside of the add phases.

Resto:
I can pretty much run Prydaz/SotF on all of the fights. SotF has a very good synergy with T21 4p, and Prydaz is simply a very good stat stick on top of the shield it gives. My default raid talents setup is 1/2/1/2/2/2/1. Might swap to speed totem, Earthgrab, or APT, depending on the situation. On Varimathras, I like to run Velen's/chest and run a crit/vers gear set (mastery is devalued on this fight as the raid is typically always pretty much topped off on this fight). I also run Prydaz/Velen's for whatever fight if I'm bored of my default legendaries.

7c. How do you analyze your performance on a new fight and figure out how/what you can improve on next week? Don't just say you use logs and compare to others of your class - what specifically are you looking for when you have a good/bad parse?

I mainly take a look at my cooldown timings. For example: Did I use SK 5-6 times in this 6 minute fight? Did I line it up with add spawns and effectively use up all 3 charges? I would also be looking at my maelstrom management--I shouldn't be capping on maelstrom. Situationally, however, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, such as on Varimathras where I would ideally want those big Earth Shocks to kill off the shadow add. Of course, I also take a look at my Flame Shock uptime and make sure that it's 100% or as close to 100% as possible, depending on the situation.

8. Please include your character log report showcasing your performance on the relevant bosses of the tier. If your logs are private, please change your Warcraftlogs login and list the username/password here so we can access your logs. If you aren't comfortable listing it publicly, please PM it to Palin privately on these forums. Please remember to change your WCL login again a few days later after we've reviewed your application.

9. Of the above logs, please do a quick analysis of what fights you did well on, what went wrong on certain fights, etc. Use this chance to explain any context behind good/bad logs.

Although I don't really have any purple/orange parses in mythic as Ele at the moment, of these logs, I feel that I did relatively well on Varimathras and Portal Keeper.

On Varimathras, I was second on damage to the melee shadow adds. I feel that I could have done more to the ranged ones, but they seem to have died a lot more quickly than the melee ones.

On Portal Keeper with Yup, I was second on boss damage and overall add damage. I got interrupts out with Earthquake, but I also should have more actively tried to interrupt with cap totem and more Wind Shears.

On Portal Keeper with NBA, I didn't do as much DPS as I could have done overall since adds died a lot quicker. Also, if I recall correctly, I was having frame drops that night (that's taken care of now). Despite that, I felt that I did better actively trying to interrupt adds on this pull than the pull with Yup. I still could have done better, but with the frame drops, I was mistiming my cap totems in that adds would have already been dead by the time the stun went off.

I felt that I did relatively poorly on High Command and Coven. On High Command, I had one death because I wasn't topped off with Shocked on me. Although I could have lived if a healer topped me off there, I still could have prevented it myself if I had moved away from Bladestorm sooner. Adds were also dying very rapidly so my DPS also took a hit for that. On Coven, I wasn't using shoulders (because I didn't have an optimal gear set for shoulders/boots at the time) and I feel that I could have done more damage to the adds on that pull.

10. Can your PC handle WoW at high effects (Lust, Scorp Room, etc.)?

Yes, I currently have a GTX 1070 and Ryzen 5 1600 setup.

11. Please include a SS of your raiding UI. IF A KEYBINDING IS NOT SHOWN ON YOUR FRAME, PLEASE EXPLAIN AND list any relevant keybinds not shown in the screenshot. Make sure we can see everything that pops up in a raid, meaning take the SS in combat in LFR or something of the like so we can see your boss mods, timer positioning, WeakAuras, raid frames, etc.

Hey Pessa, thanks for your interest with us and taking the time to apply. Sorry for not responding earlier, but we appreciate the time/effort you put in here.

We're starting another Ranged Trial his week so we'll likely keep deliberating over the course of this next raid week. Definitely encourage you to keep looking for places that may have a healer spot available, but we'll circle back with you around next weekend after we've looked a bit more.

Thanks again!

Hi Pessa, at this time we're going to hold off on a DPS app, as your Mythic experience with Ele just is too limited. If we get a healer spot that opens up down the line we'll definitely get in contact with you though. Best of luck in your search if you continue and the rest of Legion!
