To be fair, you'd be pissed too if you were getting coal years after years.

You can find shit examples of fans in every city.

Want some shitty fan experiences? Go talk to Chicago Cubs fans right now. They think they shit Tywin Lannister-like gold and can do no wrong. Can't wait until Arrieta reverts back to his shit version.

Fuck Philadelphia. The only thing that feels good about that city is leaving it.

I honestly wouldn't mind if San Jose won the cup if they are the better team. I surely won't feel bad if we win it, but it's hard to really root against San Jose for any reason except they're playing against us.

This.

People keep trying to heckle me with "Go Sharks" and I'm like, okay? I love the Sharks. Obviously I want the Pens to win, but it's hard to hate a good team, and if we lose it's because they deserved the Cup.

Plus Paul Martin.

I find that hard to believe. I would hate the sharks if they beat the Rangers. Maybe it's just me.

I would obviously be upset that the Pens didn't win, there would be tears and swearing and drinking. I'd be much more okay with the Sharks beating us than say, the Flyers or the Caps (or the Rangers.)

Just be fans of the game itself. Loyalty to a team barely matters when the entire team turns over twice a decade. Yeah, yeah, nobody else agrees, I know, but welcome to professional sports in the 21st century.

Yeah, the sentiment is that there are far worse teams to lose to.

The Steelers lost a Super Bowl to the Packers. Tough to hate Aaron Rodgers and the Packers organization, and we recognized that we got beat by a good team. Losing to the Patriots or Ravens, though? Fuck that shit. Letting the Browns think they have a chance? Ugh. There are some teams you LOATHE. Then there's the "well, I like them except when they're playing my team!"

Why not just be a fan of the game itself and forget about all that extra garbage? Your fan / viewing experience will be far better than getting caught up in the tabloid bullshit that surrounds sports for no reason.

Are you saying that the drama between teams and players and rivalries is "garbage?" I'm just not sure what that even means. I can enjoy a football game, but my enjoyment is increased by a factor of a thousand when it's MY team beating a RIVAL team. Watching any schmuck swing a baseball bat and hit a ball thrown by some other schmuck is neat, but that's not what being a fan is for me. I'm not a super crazy where my team losing makes me become an internet warrior where I suddenly think I know all the answers on how to fix my team or bash kids/adults for losing a game - but I am passionate about the teams I'm a fan of. It just makes it more fun to me.

And yes, Melb, Tom Brady can suck it. I respect him, but I can still hate him. Dude's a FB HOF'er, but he can ride the pine for 4 games this year (I still put him on my fantasy team).
