The Caps are finally doing what other teams have been doing to them for years. Blocking shots and being physical in the playoffs. Speed and skill get negated a bit when the refs put the whistle away in the post season.

Obviously with the Caps past, I'm still scared they're going to find a way to lose this series, even though this is a completely new team with a brand new attitude. Orpik and Niskanen have been amazing additions.

Reading this makes me sad haha. The real addition to the team was Mitch Korn though. Without him, all this wouldn't have happened.

Rangers just aren't hot right now. Sather rolled too hard relying on these old ass vets to make us better this year. Losing Staalman for Boyle may have cost us another Cup run.

I think we'll take this to 7 and lose in a heartbreaker. But the depth isn't there like it was last year.

Obviously some of the coaching additions have been great.

But if you've been following the Capitals for the last 20 years (or atleast during the Young Guns era) you'd know what I mean.

I'm glad we now have Young Guns 2.0 though.

Edit: In the past we've had guys like Schmidt, Schultz, Hillen, Erskine, Oleksy, etc. We finally have a solid top 6 defensive core. When Mike Green is playing on the 3rd pairing I'm happy with that.

Holtbeast has been amazing, but saying it's all Mitch Korn is a bit short sighted. In 2011 Holtby had a 1.95 GAA and .935 save percentage in 14 games. I've seen him play, and knew he could be something special. Korn seems to have gotten him to the next level, but he's ALWAYS been solid.

The biggest change I've seen is just the entire team buying into the shot blocking and commitment mentality. I was reading a Blueshirt Blog and saw someone say the Rangers are getting Tortarella'd. The Caps have bought in, and it's pretty awesome to see the narrative completely turned around.

Yeah I am hoping for a blowout win today, like in 2012 Game 7. A 5-0 would make my heart relax for a change.

Holtby came down to earth a bit. I mean his team didn't do him any favors, but he didn't make a couple saves that he may have in the past. I didn't think we'd ever get more than 2 against Lundqvist. Great game overall though.

Caps won't win Game 7, but it was a good series. The best chance they had was Game 5. They let Game 6 get away from them.

Game 7 is still 50/50 IMO, don't count your team out yet. I'm mad nervous about everyone saying the Rangers have Game 7 in the bag.

I'm on the fence for this one. I'd like to see the Caps get past round 2 for the first time since Ovechkin came into the league, but I also have a pool full of Rangers. Hopefully the Caps forget they're supposed to choke and it's a good game. Good luck to both teams, Stamkos and Co. will be waiting. (I hope)

At the very least I'd like a good game.

This is something I can't stand with most cities. I was in a section with several ranger fans. They were treated with respect. There is even a PSA on the jumbotron before the game asking fans to be respectful, not use fowl language, and not consume alcohol in excess.

As soon as the Rangers were up 2-0 those ranger fans who we were respectful of turned into shit talking ass holes. Making fun of Caps fans and talking shit. I almost got into two fights (one at the game, one on the metro) with Rangers fans who just wanted to talk shit.

I've also been in MSG more than once and heard the amount of shit talking and just absolute garbage that comes out of there. It's one reason I'm proud to be a Caps fan, the atmosphere is 1000x better.

The Caps played better in Game 6 than they have all series. The only difference in the game was NYR capitalizing on a few scoring chances (instead of going just wide) and Holtby just not coming up with a couple saves that he usually makes (but I don't expect him to, he was just playing super human).

Eric - Game 7 is 50/50. But if you've been a fan of this team as long as I have you don't expect to win Game 7s. Especially when you were already up 3-1. All I've heard is that this is a "new" team and how everything is different. And to a point I'd agree, but it also just feels like the same old song and dance for the Caps.
