We're back baby, back in that New Raid groove.

Oh hi there. Long time no see huh?

The new expansion brought lots of changes to Azeroth, but none were more pertinent to us than the new raid design which brought 10m raids in line with 25m ones in terms of difficulties and rewards. With our leadership still jaded after years of 25m raiding and dealing with the stresses of constant attrition, recruiting, etc, it was nice to be able to pull our WoLK core together and not have to rely on outside additions and to enjoy the new content. Thus as a 10m guild we've re-entered the progression game and have been working towards getting right back to where we left off as one of the top guilds in the US.

It didn't take long for us to get to 85 and jump back into the new content, which has turned out to be refreshingly challenging. Our first target was Cho'gall in the Bastion of Twilight. He wasn't so bad. :P

With only Al'akir and Nefarion remaining, we chose to put a day on the end boss in Throne of the Four Winds, and were rewarded quite quickly with a satisfying kill.

Meth sucks at taking pics.

Nefarion proved to be quite challenging. Healing this fight without a Holy Paladin made things a bit harder than it needed to be (theme of the expansion so far); coupled with Holiday delays we were about a week behind the kill than we were hoping for until our raid comp got to where it needed to be. Thanks to pro Rallik kiting, Nef too suffered defeat at our hands.

And thus we were back where we wanted to be, working on Heroics. We targeted Halfus first, as most guilds did. We quickly found out though that the disparity in difficulty on this fight between 10m and 25m was quite high. Without the luxury of being able to stack 5 tanks with minimal DPS loss, and with the Drakes hitting for obscene amounts despite having half the healers, we were forced to make a variety of creative changes in our raid comp to make this happen. Once we did, he fell quite quickly. Thank be the Impact gods for Mage RNG.

Now we turn our attention to the bosses in Blackwing Decent for our next Heroic kill, which looks to be as difficult, if not moreso, than our first. Overall we've been quite impressed with this tier of content. It feels challenging while not too overtuned, and the mechanics have been refreshing and interesting. I'm personally enjoying this content more than I have any since Ulduar, no small feat. Hopefully the rest of the content in this expansion stays as interesting and challenging as the first. It's also nice to be able to raid with 13ish other people who you have complete faith in without the stress of worrying about Trials and recruiting and such.

It's good to be back.

With goblins and trees aside, everything looks familiar.
